Terms
The agreement you make when you use Sakura.
These terms are a binding agreement between you and the team that makes Sakura Client (“we” and “us”). They cover the Sakura launcher, the Sakura game client, sakuraclient.com, Sakura’s Discord server, your Sakura account, coins, cosmetics, and everything else we offer, together “Sakura”. By installing, opening or using any part of Sakura, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don’t agree, you must not use Sakura.
In short
- Sakura is free to use. Coins and cosmetics are a licence to use them in Sakura, have no cash value, and every purchase is final, except where the law says otherwise.
- Sakura collects diagnostics automatically as part of how it works. Our privacy policy says what and why, and we don’t sell your data.
- Play fair, be kind, and don’t tamper with Sakura or try to break it. We decide when rules are broken, and we can close accounts that break them.
- Every server makes its own rules, including about the mods you use.
- Sakura is in beta and comes as it is, without promises, and our responsibility is limited.
1. Who can use Sakura
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Sakura or make an account.
- If you’re under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must agree to these terms for you. By letting you use Sakura, they agree to them and are responsible for what you do in Sakura, including anything you buy.
- When you play Minecraft through Sakura, you must also follow Minecraft’s own terms: the Minecraft End User License Agreement and Microsoft’s Services Agreement. Sign-in with Microsoft, Xbox or Discord follows those services’ own terms and age rules too.
- You may not use Sakura if we’ve closed your account or banned you before, or if the law where you live doesn’t allow you to.
2. Your account
- Give us true information, and keep your email address one you can reach: it’s how you get back into your account.
- Keep your password to yourself. Your account is yours alone: don’t share, sell, lend or give it away, and don’t use anyone else’s.
- You’re responsible for everything that happens on your account. We aren’t responsible for losses from someone else getting into it.
- Your username and profile mustn’t pretend to be someone else, including us, or be offensive. We may change or take back any username.
- If you think someone has got into your account, tell us at once at [email protected].
3. Your licence to use Sakura
As long as you follow these terms, we give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use Sakura for your own entertainment, and not for any commercial purpose. This licence ends at once if you break these terms, or if we stop offering Sakura.
You must not:
- copy, sell, rent, lend, host, hand out or make anything based on Sakura, its files, its look, its art or its content. Share the download link on sakuraclient.com instead.
- decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer, change or tamper with Sakura, or try to get its source code, except where the law expressly allows it
- get around, switch off or interfere with the checks that keep Sakura’s files as we made them, or load anything into Sakura that it doesn’t load itself
- take, copy, record or share cosmetic art, files or other content out of Sakura
- use Sakura for commercial purposes without our written permission. Videos and streams of you playing are fine.
4. What Sakura does on your PC
By using Sakura, you allow it to:
- download and install updates on its own. Some updates are needed to keep playing.
- check its own files before each launch, and put back or remove anything in its folders that was changed or added
- read, write, move and delete files in its own folders and your game folder, as its features need
- read the settings of other Minecraft launchers on your PC when you import from them, and copy the worlds you choose
- start with Windows, unless you turn that off in the launcher’s Settings
- connect your PC directly to a friend’s when they join your world, or you join theirs
Sakura plays only the mods it ships and the mods you add from Modrinth. Mods, packs and shaders you add come from their authors, not from us, and you use them at your own risk. Sakura may refuse or turn off any of them.
5. Diagnostics and data
Sakura sends us diagnostics on its own, without asking each time: your PC’s hardware, how the game runs, crashes and their logs, and what happens in the app. This is part of how Sakura works, and by accepting these terms you agree to it. Our privacy policy says exactly what we collect, why, who we share it with and how long we keep it.
We don’t sell your data. You can ask for a copy of your data, or for your account and its data to be deleted, by emailing [email protected] from your account’s address. We handle requests within a reasonable time.
6. Fair play and servers
- Every server makes its own rules, including which client mods it allows. Following them is up to you. Servers can see that you play on Sakura, and can turn its mods off.
- We aren’t responsible if a server, a network or any other service kicks, mutes or bans you, or takes anything from you, for using Sakura or anything else.
- Don’t use Sakura to cheat, grief, or harm other players.
7. What you share
Sakura lets you write, upload and send things: messages, notes, profile details, screenshots, worlds, skins, invites and bug reports (“your content”).
- You keep ownership of your content. You give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence, which we may pass on to the services that run Sakura for us, to store, copy, change the format of, show and send your content to run, improve and promote Sakura. This licence lasts as long as your content is in Sakura, and for as long as we keep backups or have to keep it by law.
- You’re solely responsible for your content, and you promise you have the right to share it.
- Things you make public, such as notes and your profile, can be seen by anyone, and may be copied by others. Deleting them from Sakura doesn’t remove copies others have made.
- We may review, hold, remove, refuse or limit any content, at our discretion, without notice, for any reason. We review notes before other players see them.
Don’t share anything that:
- is illegal, or that you don’t have the right to share
- harasses, threatens, bullies or defames anyone, or attacks people for who they are
- is sexual, or puts a minor at risk in any way
- gives out someone else’s personal information without their permission
- pretends to be someone else, is spam, or links to malware, scams or cheats
If you think something in Sakura infringes your copyright or other rights, email [email protected] with what it is, where it is, and how to reach you. We’ll look into it and take it down if it does.
8. Things you must not do
- try to break into, attack, overload or disrupt Sakura, its servers or its services, or get into accounts, data or systems that aren’t yours
- use bots, scripts, automated accounts or scraping on Sakura, except where we allow it
- use a bug or exploit to get coins, items or an advantage. Report it to us instead.
- make fake or extra accounts, or misuse invites, rewards, gifts or the beta
- get around a ban or any other action we’ve taken, with another account, a VPN, a new device or any other way
- pretend to be us, our team, another player or anyone else
- send false reports, or misuse bug reports, support or reporting tools
- use Sakura to break the law or anyone’s rights
9. Moderation and enforcement
We may watch for and act on anything that happens in Sakura, but we don’t have to, and having moderation tools doesn’t make us responsible for preventing all harm. We decide whether these terms were broken. At our discretion, without notice and without having to explain, we may:
- warn you, mute you, or limit what you can do
- remove or restrict your content, coins, items or features
- suspend or close your account, or ban a device
- stop you from using Sakura altogether
We try to be fair, but we don’t have to offer an appeal. When an account is suspended or closed for breaking these terms, its coins and items are lost, and nothing is refunded.
10. Coins, items and payments
Coins and items
- Coins are Sakura’s currency for cosmetics. You can buy them, and we sometimes give them out.
- Coins and items are licensed to you, not sold. They aren’t property, have no real-world value, and can’t be exchanged for money, credit or anything outside Sakura.
- You can’t sell, trade, transfer or exchange coins, items or accounts for money, goods or services, or move them to another account. The only way to give an item to someone is a gift inside Sakura. Doing otherwise breaks these terms and can get your account closed.
- You may use an item for as long as your account is open and Sakura offers it.
- We may change, adjust or remove coins, items, prices, rewards and how the coin system works at any time, without notice. If we take an item out of Sakura entirely, we may give back the coins it cost.
Buying coins
- You see the price before you pay.
- Payments are handled by Stripe, our payment provider. By paying, you also accept Stripe’s terms and privacy policy. We never see your card details.
- You must be allowed to use the payment method you pay with, and if you’re under 18, you need a parent’s or guardian’s permission to buy.
- Coins are delivered to your account as soon as the payment goes through.
Refunds and cancelling
- Every purchase of coins and items is final, and nothing is refunded except where the law requires it.
- Where the law gives you a right to cancel a purchase of digital content, as it does in the EU and the UK, you ask us to deliver your coins at once when you buy, and you agree that you lose that right once they’re delivered.
- If you were charged and didn’t get your coins, or were charged twice, email [email protected] and we’ll put it right.
- Please contact us before disputing a payment. If you dispute or charge back a payment, we may take back the coins it bought and anything bought with them, and suspend your account until it’s settled.
Gifts and rewards
- A gift is your friend’s as soon as you send it. It can’t be returned, refunded or passed on.
- Founder coins, invite rewards and coins for bugs we fix are given at our discretion. We may change or end them at any time, and take back any we think were earned unfairly.
11. Other services and content
Sakura works with services we don’t run, such as Minecraft, Microsoft, Discord, Modrinth, Stripe, the servers you join, and the streaming and donation services you connect. Your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We aren’t responsible for their availability, content or practices, or for any harm from using or relying on them.
Some content you find through Sakura comes from others and belongs to them. We don’t check it, own it or stand behind it.
12. Our rights
Sakura, its name and leaf mark, its software, look, art, cosmetics and everything we publish belong to us or the people who license them to us, and are protected by copyright and other laws. Nothing in these terms gives you any right to them beyond the licence in section 3.
Sakura Client isn’t an official Minecraft product, and isn’t approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft. Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang.
13. Sakura is in beta
Sakura is new and changes often. We may add, change, pause, limit or remove any part of it, including features, mods, cosmetics and services, at any time, with or without notice, and without being responsible to you for it. We may also stop offering Sakura entirely.
14. No warranties
Sakura is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express, implied or statutory. As far as the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including any of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement, and any arising from a course of dealing or usage of trade.
We don’t promise that Sakura will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure or free of harmful components, that it will work with every PC, server or mod, or that it will keep your settings, worlds, items or other data safe. Keep your own backups of what you care about.
15. Limits on our responsibility
As far as the law allows, we, and everyone who works on Sakura, aren’t liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, worlds, profits, coins or items, or bans from servers or other services, arising from Sakura or from using or not being able to use it, even if we were told they might happen.
As far as the law allows, if you ever have a claim against us, the most we would have to pay you, for all your claims about Sakura or these terms together, is what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or 10 US dollars if that’s more.
Some places don’t allow some of these limits. There, they apply as far as the law allows. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have as a consumer that the law says can’t be taken away.
16. Your responsibility to us
You agree to defend us and hold us harmless from any claims, losses, damages and costs, including reasonable legal fees, that come from your use of Sakura, your content, your breaking these terms, or your breaking anyone’s rights or the law.
17. Disputes
If you have a problem with Sakura, email [email protected] first, and we’ll try to settle it informally within 30 days. As far as the law allows:
- any claim must be brought by you individually, not as part of a class, group or representative action
- any claim about Sakura must be brought within one year of when it arose, or it’s given up
We may always ask a court to stop someone from infringing our rights or harming Sakura.
18. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms at any time. Changes apply as soon as they’re posted on this page, and the date at the top shows the last change. When a change matters, we may also say so in the launcher. If you keep using Sakura after a change, you accept the new terms; if you don’t accept them, you must stop using Sakura.
19. The rest
- If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, it’s limited as little as needed, and the rest still applies.
- If we don’t enforce something straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Sakura.
- You can’t pass these terms or your account on to anyone else. We may pass them on, for example if Sakura changes hands.
- Sections 7, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 19 keep applying after your account is closed or you stop using Sakura.
